當今國際上流行的音色格式有很多種，其中主要有AKAI、ROLAND、EMU、GIGA、REX、
REASON、YAMAHA、ACID、SF、KURZWEIL、MPC、SAMPLESELL、SAMPLETANK、KONTAKT等，
其中只有AKAI是相容性最強的音色格式，由於它採取開放式的執行方式，幾乎所有硬
體或軟體的采樣音源都能讀取AKAI格式的音色碟，所以也是目前音色種類及數量最豐富
的音色格式。另外還有一種最受歡迎的音色格式是GIGASAMPLE格式，GIGASTUDIO是目
前最流行的PC機軟體采樣音源，他可以實現最佳的采樣音質，一個音色可以最大支援到
1GB的容量，所以GIGA格式制做的音色碟通常都是經典中的經典，而且實際的售價也比
一般的格式高出很多，一張碟甚至可以賣到一千多美金的天價！

Thislibraryisactuallymadefromjustoneinstrumentofthe
gamelanensemble,theugal.Thisispitchedinthemiddleofthe
gamelanrange,andsoisquiteversatileandgenerallyleadsthe
gangsasectionofatraditionalBalinesegroup.Thisinstrumenthas
14keyswhichcoverarangeofalmost3octaves.

ThemetalUgalkeyswerebowedusingastandardcellobow,verti-
callyacrossthethinedgeofthemetal.Insteadofaconventional
microphone,aTranceAudioTranceInducercontactmicwasused.This
givesthesoundanincrediblydetailed,surgicalscrapingquality.

TheSampledInstrument

Theinstrumentwassampledat44.1kHz,24bit,inmono.Thereare
?veroundrobinsofboththemainbowedsound,and?veroundrobins
ofthekey-off(release)ringingoftheinstrumentforatotalof
140samples.Thesamplesareloopedwithabowchangeincludedin
theloop,foranaturalsoundingsustain.
